Contains spoiler alert, I think it counts as spoiler alert.

Uncharted had American writing all over the place in that movie. I watch a lot of movies, and I can tell there are so much the director wants to do, different audience he wants to satisfy. Basically, he showed his interest in trying to make the original gamer happy, however, judging by the comments from the gamers, they are not too happy about what they saw. haha. I mean, I enjoyed it in general. If you asked me to describe this movie, I would say that this movie is a combination of DaVinci Code, Indianan Jones, and pirates! If you know what I am talking about, you would put these movies together, and that’s how I see Uncharted, plus Tom Holland! I love that kid!

I cannot speak for the gamers, cause I really am just not a gamer. I can tell there are some scenes that the director is trying to use game-like elements to retain some of the gaming perspectives, because it was a game, and now it is a movie. The most fun part for me is the part when they referenced to some classic movies like Indiana Jones, and the humor of it is even a little similar. Now to be honest, Tom Holland wouldn’t be my best pick on this film, Nathan Fillion would! Nathan has his nerdy charm to materials like this. I loved him in Firefly, him in Castle showed his “nerdy” side. Tom is a little too young for this, and when Tom was talking about the history and art stuff, you see the excitement, but who knows, it is just different. Later on, I found out that Nathan was in a fan shot Uncharted film made in 2018, his performance is great!! I love him! Now if you start talking about chemistry between Nathan Fillion and Mark Wahlberg, well, that will suck, so if you think about between Tom and Mark, then yes, they did a great cast on that. Mark was awesome in Italian Job, and this movie has something like that going as well. I cannot tell if the directors wants to make a tribute to the old treasure hunt movies or it is trying to honor the video games, like what I said before, it is trying to target both audience and that mixed up the feeling of it. The fountain, the church and following the clue gives me DaVinci Code + Indiana Jones, I know, I know, you are going to say “DaVinci Code? that’s really stretching it”, it is the location reminded me of that. That fountain, I swear I saw it in the DaVinci Code movies. Everything about the movie reminds me of Indiana Jones though, the way they cut the scenes, the bridging shots, they camera angle and the humor in the movie, etc. However, they are just not Indiana Jones. The smartness of Spielberg movies are just they know when to pick the moments to inject the jokes. Whenever Indi is in a dangerous moment, there is always a one liner joke to lighten the mood. If Uncharted could do the same when Nate is under the water and almost died, that would be even better, those couple minutes were intense. lol. They used Indiana Jones and Jack Sparrow reference, which is great, because that’s exactly what this movie is about, but if they could pick and choose on which direction they want to go, that would be even better, if they want to go full on video game mode, then do that, if they want to go full on adventure and treasure hunt mode, then go with that. The story may need a little more construction, when they get to the first “location”, they found a map, but it was a little too “easy”, if there are more clues in there, then they realize that the map is in the big urns, have the urns contain some snakes or something to spice it up! Although, it was not in a jungle, so having animals in there doesn’t really make sense, lol, but it would be cool though!!

Judging by the twist in the end, it seems like they want to make another movie, that would have been awesome though. As long as they make it more interesting, haha, I am always down for a great movie adventure.
